Filozoful aristocrat a mers la fata locului, l-a cunoscut pe Lenin, “teorie intrupata”, iar descrierea facuta a ramas antologica: “Daca l-as fi intalnit fara sa fi stiut cine era, nu as fi ghicit ca era un om mare, dar l-as fi considerat un un profesor incapatanat”. Avand in vedere vremurile in care au aparut aceste randuri, nu ar trebui subestimata intuitia lui Russell, dar nici nu ar merita ridicat prea tare in slavi omul. Pentru ca, dincolo de consideratiile rasiste privitoare la rusi, niste “barbari rasariteni”, ceea ce ii starnea teama era instaurarea de catre Moscova a unui guvern mondial comunist, militand, in acest sens, chiar si pentru declansarea unui razboi preventiv pentru a stopa ascensiunea sovieticilor. Nu ca aceasta frica de un socialism global nu ar fi fost intrucatva indreptatita si nu pentru ca ideea unui guvern mondial nu ar fi fost/este o aberatie. Ci, mai ales, pentru ca problema lui Russell nu era cu ideile in sine, cat cu personajele povestii, altfel, lordul fiind un mare sustinator si teoretician al unei noii ordini. In opinia filozofului Bloomsbury, un guvern mondial reprezenta o necesitate cel putin la fel de mare ca si aceea a socialismului global. Practic, cele doua idei sunt strans legate intre ele si depind in ultima instanta de propuneri mai concrete cu privire la realizarea consensului social pentru un astfel de proiect. Iar pentru Russell tema fricii de Rusia si de razboi era un argument la fel de bun ca oricare altul, corelata cu ideea de societate organizata pe baze stiintifice. “Nu cred ca o dictatura se poate dovedi o forma viabila de societate stiintifica, atat timp (si acest lucru este vital) cat nu este globala”, scria filozoful britanic. Russell imbratisa explicit toate ideile puse in aplicare cu salbaticie in URSS, insa adaosurile pe care el le promova erau conducerea sub o alta oligarhie, probabil, anglo-saxona, folosirea tehnicilor stiintifice pentru controlul populatiei si pregatirea prin “selective breeding” a unei rase superioare de conducatori, desi era constient de opozitia morala pe care aceste idei le vor intampina. “Dar sa presupunem ca Rusia, de pilda, trece peste aceste obstacole si produce o rasa mai puternica, mai inteligenta si mai rezistenta la boli decat celelalte rase existente pana acum pe fata pamantului, si sa presupunem ca daca celelalte natiuni nu vor urma un program similar vor fi infrante in razboi, atunci ele nu vor avea decat sa renunte la prejudecati sau, dupa infrangere, vor trebui sa se abtina de la ele”, profetea Russell. Ar fi foarte multe de comentat pe marginea teoriilor filozofului britanic, insa am sa ma opresc doar asupra unui caz particular. Marota lui Russell cu Rusia mi-a adus in minte scamatoria retorica a multor ganditori locali, care folosesc cam acelasi pretext pentru a propune idei doar putin mai radicale decat schema eugenista a lordului laureat cu premiul Nobel. Oamenilor li se inchide din start posibilitatea oricarei alegeri prin fluturarea artificiala a spectrului sovietic alaturi de falfairile vaporoase ale stelelor galbene dispuse pe fond albastru. Logica dialecticii intra din nou in actiune si raman prea putini indivizi care sa vada ca fuga de un socialism nationalist nu se combate cu o tiranie globala sau ca nu tot ce vine de la Moscova trebuie sa fie comunist, asa cum nu tot ce produce Occidentul are statut infailibil. |




Unul dintre putinii intelectuali progresisti occidentali care nu a inghitit minciunile sovietice a fost Bertrand Russell. Si asta inca din anii ’20 cand, in urma unei calatorii in “imperiul rosu”, avea sa scrie o carte foarte negativa, intitulata “The practice and theory of bolshevism”. Era un timp in care restul lumii civilizate si iluminate lesina de admiratie in fata noului taram al fagaduintei, iar
