Confesiunile inginerilor din documentar indica aceeasi si aceeasi problema: rezistenta naturii umane la o transformare totala. Visul tehnocratic de cladi un omul nou, “o fiinta stiintifica”, imediat permeabila la stimuli externi, predictibila si programabila, s-a prabusit pentru moment. Iar vina nu o poarta “cei care nu au o intelegere a stiintei si a principiilor ei de baza” asa cum credea directorul centrului de economie-matematica al Academiei URSS. Ci pur si simplu presupozitiile antropologice si metafizice materialiste pe care a fost ridicata modernitatea. Pentru cel care urmareste documentarul detasat in linistea confortabila a iluziilor bunastarii, toata goana dupa o societate complet rationala ii va parea apusa, iar exemplele oferite de film ca rizibile. In acelasi timp, insa, la Bruxelles trec aproape neobservate reglementari care impun ce trebuie sa scrie pe o minge de fotbal, cati lucsi trebuie sa fie intr-o ferma de porci, tipul de becuri care va fi folosit de oameni de acum incolo, etc. Naufragiul comunismului de tip sovietic nu a ingropat pretentiile utopice ale elitelor scientiste. Ele doar s-au metamorfozat fabianist, asteptand clipa decisiva pentru un nou asalt asupra naturii umane. |




Putina lume isi imagineaza universul comunist ca unul desenat si dominat complet de o ideologie stiintifica. Lipsurile, ineficienta si ticalosia generalizata te trimit cu gandul, de obicei, spre o societate irationala. Insa dupa cum demonstreaza primul episod din documentarul “Pandora’s box”, realizat de Adam Curtis, Uniunea Sovietica, primul stat socialist din lume, a fost de la bun inceput gandita, nu doar ca un experiment in libertinaj, ci si, mai important, ca o organizare umana intemeiata si dezvoltata pe principii radical stiintifice. Incepand cu Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin si urmasii lor, despotii rusi s-au remarcat, dincolo de numarul victimelor, prin increderea nelimitata acordata tehnocratilor de a remodela lumea si omul. S-a presupus ca, odata demantelata vechea ordine, natura umana va cunoaste o transformare miraculoasa, astfel incat “tipul uman mediu va ajunge la anvergura lui Aristotel, Goethe, sau Marx” (Trotsky). Dar, pana ca asta sa se intample, era nevoie de ajutorul stiintei pentru constructia unei societati superrationale, gandita ca o masina gigantica in care indivizii sa fie doar parti componente intersanjabile. Totul urma sa fie, si a fost, programat in acord cu cele noi descoperiri stiintifice. Preturile au fost impuse de la centru, iar oamenii au fost ciopliti pe calapodul teoriilor lui Taylor. Exemplele furnizate de Curtis sunt spumoase. De pilda, la Comitetul de Preturi, aproximativ 400 de experti “ultracalificati” se ocupau in 1990 cu stabilirea preturilor la peste 25 de milioane de produse. “Aceasta arata foarte limpede ca sistemul este rational. Sistemul este greoi, recunosc, dar cu ajutorul tehnologiei moderne, toata hartogaraia va fi comprimata cu ajutorul catorva dischete”, declara Sergei Ulanov, directorul Comitetului de Preturi. La departamentul care se ocupa cu preferintele de consum ale populatiei, problemele erau intrucatva similare. In fiecare oras, doi observatori completau in fiecare luna un raport care era trimis in centrala, unde informatia era apoi procesata. Se mai adaugau cercetari de piata si sondaje pentru a vedea ce vor oamenii sa consume. “Problema este ca industria reactioneaza foarte incet la previziunile noastre. De pilda, noi am decis ca oamenii vor (sac!) pantofi cu platforma. Pana cand fabricile s-au apucat sa mareasca productia, a trecut moda”, marturisea, abatuta, o economista.
