Cand si cand apar eforturi de a readuce impreuna viata si opera, dar si incercari curajoase de a pune filozofia in mijlocul indivizilor. Alain de Botton si-a propus un astfel de obiectiv printr-o publicatie online intitulata “The Philosophers Mail”. Gazeta trateaza subiectele preferate in mod normal de tabloidele britanice, dar intr-o maniera prin care evidentiaza miza filozofica, problemele etice, perspective psihanaliste, consideratii estetice, economice, etc. Cineva nici macar foarte rautacios ar putea spune ca arunca margaritare la porci, dar de Botton, scriitor si filozof popular (cartile lui se vand in milioane de exemplare), nu este intimidat de critici. Pare hotarat sa ii faca pe oameni sa traiasca la nivelul filozofiei. Doar ca nu si-a propus sa ridice indivizii la standardele vietii virtuoase, subintelese, de pilda, de antici, ci sa coboare standardele pana la nivelul indivizilor. Si pentru a face asta, de Botton, filozof pop prin excelenta, utilizeaza toate tehnicile ultracunoscute de demolare a standardelor: relativism etic si epistemologic, teoria Whig a istoriei, samd. In acest context, este izbitor de relevant cum trateaza de Botton chestiunea inca destul de controversata a pedofiliei. Intr-un articol recent, el discuta cazul lui Rolf Harris, un artist britanic cu o oarecare voga, condamnat saptamana trecuta pentru abuzuri impotriva copiilor. In interpretarea filozofului nostru, acest ultim incident dintr-o serie ce pare nesfarsita, nu reprezinta un simptom al degenerarii si al prabusirii moralei, ci o evidenta progresului etic. De Botton argumenteaza ca indignarea in fata acestor crime corespunde, de fapt, inaintarii morale a vremurilor. Practic, sugereaza el, noi am ajuns pe culmi atat de inalte, incat ceea ce inainte nu ne oripila astazi ne starneste o sanatoasa indignare. “Progress doesn’t stop. This week perhaps two million men in the UK will at some high point of frustration call their wives, girlfriends and partners a c***. It’s brutish and insulting and no doubt makes any trouble worse – though we don’t expect it to make the pages of the local newspaper. et it could well be that in twenty-five years time, in 2039, such an outburst will be something to be brought to the attention of the police. Conclusive evidence captured on an iPhone31 could lead to time in jail and a grim photo on the front page of the Accrington Observer.” De Botton are grija sa nu puna semn de echivalenta intre pedofilie si calomnie insa asta nu schimba prea mult structura argumentului, care ramane la fel de scandalos moral si problematic logic. Ceea ce poate constata oricine se intereseaza cat de putin de istorie este ca pedofilia nu a fost niciodata vreo practica obisnuita, acceptata tacit sau explicit de catre vreo comunitate, cel putin in spatiul crestin. Dimpotriva, abia in ultimii zeci de ani, pe fondul unor rapoarte “stiintifice” si a unor conferinte academice “value free”, dar toate cu o agenda politica in subsidiar, au aparut presiuni considerabile pentru “legalizarea” pedofiliei prin schimbarea atitudinii populatiei in privinta acestui subiect. Si timid dar constant se inmultesc personajele care propun o discutie “neutra” despre pedofilie. Inertia moralitatii traditionale este cea care inca tine lucrurile pe loc insa lobbyul ong-urilor eliberatoare va cauta sa impinga intr-o cu totul alta directie. De altfel, daca statul detine copii, moralitatea este subiectiva, iar Stiinta “a demonstrat” ca instinctele si placerea sexuala se regasesc deja la sugari, nu vad cum am putea para loviturile “alternativelor” sexuale. Pe scurt, de Botton falsifica total realitatea prin tabloul unei revulsii unanime care survine, chipurile, dupa o acalmie sau o incurajare a practicilor sexuale neconventionale. Revulsia provine din inmultirea nelegiuirilor impotriva copiilor si nu dintr-o evolutie morala. In acelasi timp, adeziunea filozofului la teoria Whig a istoriei, dinamiteaza de la bun inceput orice discutie serioasa despre responsabilitatea morala. Daca ne aflam sub destinul implacabil al progresului “one far off divine event” putem sa renuntam la orice scrupul moral. Progresul va lucra cumva prin noi. De asemenea, ca la aproape orice relativist moral si la de Botton transpare imediat tentatia totalitara. Pentru el, o jignire in interioriul familiei sau al cuplului, va fi remediata in viitor prin interventia in forta a statului si condamnari la inchisoare. Asa functioneaza logica progresului. |




Candva filozofia era in principal un mod de viata si se bucura de aprecierea oamenilor. Filozofii discutau in piete publice cu indivizi obisnuiti si de multe ori isi riscau viata prin convingerile lor exprimate prea transant. Astazi filozofia a devenit o disciplina academica, osificata, cu un statut fluid, ignorata de mai toata lumea. Nu e nimic iesit din comun pentru un modern. Lucrurile se schimba; vorba poetului: “vreme trece, vreme vine”. De asemenea, exista o separaratie completa intre opera si viata filozofilor si deja Kant deplangea aceasta schisma existentiala. “Trebuie nu numai sa cugetam intotdeauna ci si sa ne gandim intr-o zi la aplicare. Dar astazi ne referim la un visator, la cel care traieste in conformitate cu ceea ce invata”
