Dar acelasi tip de preopinent nu va putea rezista tentatiei de a se angaja in recomandari categorice legate de viata Bisericii. In cazul recent, absenta slubjei la incinerare. Nu conteaza ca Biserica ar trebui, potrivit decalogului modern, tratata ca o institutie privata in care participarea este voluntara. Progresivistul vrea cu orice pret sa croiasca dogma pe masura intelegerii lui limitate. Stie el prea bine cum sta treaba. Nu cunoaste antropologie religioasa, iar de eshatologie nici nu vrea sa auda pentru ca intr-o lumea desenata de Disney nu exista asa ceva. Preotii trebuie sa subscrie la filozofia sa moderna sau sa dispara. Sau sa ia exemplul protestantilor si catolicilor, chiar daca ei se folosesc de alta metafizica. Vorba aia, sunt tot crestini. Si asa se face ca apar celebrele intrebari: de ce nu au voie femeile in altar, de ce nu se tine slujba pentru sinucigasi, de ce sunt slujbele atat de lungi, samd. Dar ideea moderna de separare a statului de Biserica prevede tocmai caracaterul voluntar al unei astfel de institutii, chiar daca statul a preferat sa-si subordoneze (absolut) rivalul ideologic. Nimeni nu este obligat sa participe, nimeni nu este fortat sa subscrie. Vine cine vrea, dar trebuie sa respecte regulile casei. Proprietate privata. Nu te poti duce sa urli blasfemii, sa intrerupi programul, sa schimbi ordinea, sa reduci timpul de emisie. Pentru absurdul situatiei, imaginati-va o dezbatere publica despre lungimea programului discotecilor din Romania, despre discriminarea practicata de DJ-ii care detin monopolul difuzarii unui anumit tip de muzica, despre interzicerea accesului unor persoane imbracate inadecvat, etc. Biserica nu este o discoteca sau un club, insa pare limpede ca tot mai multe personaje iluminate ar vrea sa o transforme in ceva asemanator. |




Ceea ce deranjeaza cu precadere la progresivistii zilelor noastre nu e modernitatea lor, ci faptul ca nu sunt suficienti de moderni, dupa cum bine a intuit Chesterton. De pilda, spune-i unui intelectual sau jurnalist ca trebuie (e recomandat) sa tina post si pe buna dreptate il vor apuca istericalele si va glosa la nesfarstit despre caracaterul retrograd al practicii. Aminteste-i ca nu se cade sa intre in Biserica in costumatie de plaja si iti va vorbi in termeni liberali despre dreptul la viata privata. Incearca sa-i sugerezi de virtutea caritatii si iti va replica, intr-o interpretare de specialist in economie, ca nu faci altceva decat sa incurajezi lenea si saracia. Si, din nou, pe buna dreptate.
